Advancing Indigenous Communities Capacity

Your community is impacted and it has a resonate effect.

Hello, I'm Chavisa,

I have a longstanding commitment to advancing reconciliation and advancing justice.

For much of the last decade, I worked with and for First Nations across Turtle Island, as well as Metis Nations.  I have a sound understanding of the importance of advancing skill building and community capacity building towards autonomy and self-determination.

Large white text at the top reads “Unaddressed trauma can slow us down.” Below, smaller text says “Trauma has a ripple-out effect to:” followed by six labelled icons showing individuals, families, communities, networks, nations, and workforces. The Mother Corp logo is in the bottom right corner.

The educational workshops I offer are intended to increase skills and advance justice. I come to this work through lived experience combined with my professional training.

Lived experience is at the heart of the work I do.

Workplace Trauma-Informed Practices Educational Workshop

When we know more about how to create trauma-informed workplaces, we build safer environments for both the organization and the people who work within it. These approaches strengthen relationships, improve trust, and help organizations thrive.  These practices support the wellbeing of staff and leadership, so there is more energy within the organization.

Holistic Trauma Recovery Educational Workshop

When we develop holistic trauma recovery skills, we gift ourselves—and the people in our communities—with tools for better coping during times of pain and challenge. These skills are safeguards.  They help us support others effectively, and also protect ourselves by lessen our own trauma exposure (secondary trauma).

During my time working for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), I was introduced to a amazing method of holistic trauma recovery. As a person who has experienced traumatic violence and institutional insufficiency, the approach resonated and I committed to learning it. I am now certified in Holistic Trauma Recovery—a holistic approach recognized by First Nations as high efficacy.

Gender-Based Violence Educational Workshop

Gender-based violence happens all too often. When response systems are insufficient, it creates another layer of trauma. This workshop amplifies skills to work with people experiencing gender-based violence and provide skilled support.

The Mother Corp Educational Workshops teach you—and your team—to identify and effectively support trauma early on, intervene effectively to support de-escalation, and use somatic skills to support people experiencing trauma.

Enhancing your trauma-informed training, skills, and techniques helps you safeguard your wellbeing and your capacity to serve the people who rely on you during critical periods.

Our holistic, evidence-based educational workshops are tailored specifically to community leaders and the realities of the needs of the communities you serve. Each workshop is practical, relevant, and designed to fit your unique professional reality, drawing from academic, professional, and lived expertise.

"The owner of The Mother Corp. is a dynamic and engaging presenter who brings a calming vibe and a wealth of knowledge to her work. In her professional development session with me and my school colleagues, she took an erudite and research-driven approach to helping us explore how we can better understand and support our students as they navigate the complexities they are facing in their personal lives. In the session she led with my colleagues on hidden abuse, she was able to first get us centered and in the right frame of mind to explore the challenging topic, give us a background in the academic literature and brain science, and then explore the nexus between her work and ours through examples and case studies drawn from the discussion. Whether you are a school, social service organization, non-profit or business,  The Mother Corp. would be an able guide to helping develop organizational competencies that improve how an organization supports its people in a meaningful and trauma-informed way."

As a Trauma-Informed Coach, Consultant, and Educator, we can work together virtually or in-person anywhere.
