Announcing a new partnership between Beauty Council and The Mother Corp.

If you work in the beauty industry, you know your role extends far beyond creating beauty and style. You’re often a good listener, an informal confidant, and someone clients trust to share the details of their lives. While this relationship is valued, these ongoing interactions and conversations can build up, leaving you feeling emotionally worn down, stressed, or overwhelmed.

This partnership provides an effective trauma-informed resource to help Beauty Professionals navigate emotional conversations and look after themselves.

Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Greg Robins on The Business of Style podcast to discuss what this looks like in practice.

Our Podcast Discussion Covered

  • What Is Trauma?

Trauma isn’t always about life-altering events. For some people, it can be the small, cumulative stressors of daily life.

  • Staying Grounded

When clients share their experiences, some of it can be hard to hear. We discuss ways to stay present while managing your own energy.

  • Drawing Boundaries With Care

Conversations can sometimes be emotional. I offered strategies for guiding these moments with empathy while keeping interactions manageable, humane, and professional.

  • Passing the Baton

You don’t have to do it all. The Mother Corp is a resource for Beauty Professionals to share with clients who would benefit from support. This allows you to extend care by offering effective resources.

The Importance of Trauma-Informed Support for Beauty Professionals

Beauty Professionals are uniquely positioned because their work is intimate, which tends to create trust-based interactions with clients. This connection often includes divulging information about stressors, mental health, health issues, gender-based abuse and violence, and other complex challenges. While it’s an honour to hold space for your clients, having skills and resources to support your and your clients’ wellbeing is equally important.

The Mother Corp offers Beauty Professionals two kinds of support:

  1. Tools to help you have better conversations, process stressors, stay grounded, set safe boundaries, and enhance self-care so that you and your clients feel empowered, heard, and respected.

  2. The Mother Corp can be a resource you can confidently share with struggling clients who might benefit from personalized support.

Here is the webpage specifically for Beauty Professionals.

How I Can Support You

If you’ve ever left work feeling emotionally fatigued, anxious, or overwhelmed, this service is for you:

  • Gain skills for compassionate and effective communication

  • Support clients effectively without accumulating stress

  • Set boundaries

  • Learn to stay centred during emotional intensity

  • Navigate challenging interactions with confidence

  • Enhance your self-care, stress management, and emotional wellness

A Shared Story in the Industry

Worldwide, Beauty Professionals reflect on the trust their clients place in them. Research highlights how these relationships often include disclosures about mental health, family stress, health and safety concerns, including gender-based violence, and other complex challenges.

Research shows beauty professionals are service providers who can also feel

“undervalued, emotionally drained, and in need of support in their role.” (Hairdressing as a Source of Social Support, 2021)

The Mother Corp’s services are holistic and evidence-informed, blending head and heart.

The partnership between The Mother Corp and Beauty Council bridges this gap — providing Beauty Professionals with the resources and tools they need to amplify their short- and long-term wellbeing.

Working Together

Beauty Council Members receive a complimentary 30-minute consultation plus specialized discounts for one-on-one coaching services as part of this partnership.

If you’re ready to lighten the emotional load, strengthen your boundaries, and support your clients with confidence, let’s connect:

Together, we can honour your role as an "informal confidant" while safeguarding your energy and wellbeing.

Let’s strengthen the beauty industry together, ensuring a space for connection, support, and wellness — for you and your clients.
