Hey, I'm Chavisa,

It sure is gorgeous outside.  I gifted myself swimming in the Salish Sea yesterday, which was very life affirming.

I'm back to start my mornings circling my raspberry bush gathering the ripest berries.  I love theory, especially in practice.  I got to listen to a webinar recently on the incoming criminalization of Coercive Control, which was a really articulate conversation on the complexity of addressing coercive control.  Here's an overview of the topic.

Did you know there is no universal definition of trauma?

(Each newsletter will feature a different definition).

"The silver lining of COVID is our increased willingness to speak openly about mental health issues. As a result, trauma-informed care is coming to light." (Psychology Today, 2020)

Prevalence of Trauma

(Each newsletter will feature different data).

⚡"People experience almost five traumatic events in their lifetime" (Greer, 2024)
⚡"Trauma is considered a public health crisis due to the frequency and effect trauma has on society (Greer, 2024)

Here are some professionals responses to our trauma-informed workplace survey:
"Trauma-informed approaches are essential in improving workplace culture, it's just not typically implemented in a practically useful way for the employees." (Anonymous Respondent)

Tips for wellness

🤩 Provide staff with ready-to-eat fruits and vegetables in the staff rooms morning and afternoon.
