Q reaches 10 million views on YouTube

http://www.wonderboy.ca/jian/jian-14.jpgQTV, the YouTube channel for Q with host Jian Ghomeshi, has reached a new milestone of 10 million video views on just one of the many platforms on which the program reaches its audience. The massive number was reached on March 22.

“This is a remarkable number that we never expected hit this quickly,” said Ghomeshi. “It’s truly gratifying that the Q ascent in social media (from YouTube to the cbc.ca/Q website to the podcasts) continues to grow by massive leaps. Kudos to our tiny but powerful QTV team of Ben Aylsworth and Marc Whiteway for their amazing efforts.”

In just two years, the QTV channel has become one of the most viewed and most subscribed Canadian channels on YouTube. The notorious Billy Bob Thornton interview with Ghomeshi has itself garnered more than two million views. Many of these viewers have stayed to become loyal fans of the program and its ebullient host.

“This is a wonderful achievement, one that underscores our ability to reach big audiences with great content on all platforms,” exclaimed Denise Donlon, general manager, CBC Radio.

In addition to the YouTube channel, Q airs twice daily, Monday to Friday, on CBC Radio One; three times daily, Monday to Friday, on Sirius satellite radio; and four times a week on bold TV. The program also hosts a popular blog on its CBC website and offers daily audio podcasts and weekly video podcasts.

Added Ghomeshi: “Not sure if you heard the show today (March 22) but I am now engaged to 92-year-old Phyllis Diller. I would expect that congratulations are in order.”
